- The parliament will examine a number of draft laws on modification of the Election Code by next weekend. Dumitru Diacov, leader of the Democratic Party (PD) faction, has proposed the inclusion of a draft law on amendment of the Election Code, worked out by a special task force, in agenda of the parliament. Also, another seven draft laws on modification of the Election Code, worked out by the Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) faction, was included in agenda of the parliament at the insistent request of AMN faction deputy chairman Dumitru Braghis. Under the draft law of the task force, the electoral threshold could be reduced from six percent down to four percent for political parties, from nine percent down to six percent for electoral blocs comprising two parties, and from 12 percent down to nine percent for electoral blocs including at least three parties.
- The Information Development Ministry will change for free the annexes to identity cards on which the "voted" stamp will be applied at the July 24 repeated elections, in line with a decision of the cabinet of ministers. There were many cases at the July 10 scrutiny in Chisinau when electors did not want the "voted" stamp to be applied in their annexes, so that they were unable to cast their ballots. The Central Election Commission has tabled this initiative, saying that the change of annexes is a cheaper procedure for the state budget than organisation of repeated elections.
